Convex to Tress

Convex to Tress is composed of two series, Convex and Tress: give it time and it will grow. Both display observations of material, endurance, duration as well as the changing features of the human body through abstract, simplified, and raw forms. ‘Convex’(2020) is a 16-piece series created with unprimed canvas forms on 8”x8” wooden frames. Displayed in the order in which they were made, they showcase a progression of varying cone diameters and amounts of canvas material. When creating this series, it was strictly observational and endurance based -however- because of the shape and raw material, these forms mimic human qualities -such as breast, that are relatable to some and uncomfortable to others. 'Tress (give it time and it will grow)’ (2020- ) is an ongoing project currently composed of 5 pieces, These works are made from unprimed canvas and thread. This series began as a study of hair growth in various forms taking place primarily in the timespan of 2020-2021 quarantine. Tress is an on going project.
