Artist Statement

Art has always been a huge part of my journey of self-discovery and expression. Being a first-generation Mexican-American daughter, I've found inspiration in the unique blend of my heritage and the emotions that come with it. It all started with a simple curiosity for drawing, from the joy of putting pencil on paper in my first art class to watching my mom effortlessly sketch while talking to my grandma on the phone.

As I dove deeper into the art world, I discovered its incredible power to connect us all, regardless of language and borders. My art-making  journey has become an exploration of my identity and cultural roots. My pieces are like snapshots of my journey that capture the highs and the lows of growing up in a blend of cultures.

In these pieces, I dive into and immortalize my childhood, exploring the intricate web of emotions tied to my relationships with my culture, family, and myself. All of which have played a major role in shaping the human I am today. I invite you to peek into my story from the beginning, El Comienzo.
